Now I know why there were some Korean businessmen last year in Mindanao promoting the planting of Jatropha (giving some free seeds away infact)… from what I’ve heard however, is that they were just planning to buy the seeds and not set up a processing plant…
There is some good news in the horizon: as it was recently reported that Samsung and the Philippine National Oil Company are planning to set up a Jatropha Curcas/Biodiesel processing plant in mindanao…results of their Go-No-Go feasibility study will be released this November… add to that also the disclosure that Saudi Aramco and Petron also have plans to put up a biodiesel refinery…
Here’s me crossing my fingers that they all push through… and the legislative arm of the Philippine Government to hurry up and push for the passing of the Biofuels Bill..
