European Commission President, Jose Manual Barroso, said that they will release an action plan next for approval by the 25 nation European Union which aims to reduce energy consumption by 20%. Failure to adopt these energy efficiency measures would amount to $125.7 M (100B Euros) in yearly losses.
The proposal focuses on: Making products more energy efficient via product labeling and design requirements.
I have to give it to the EU for being environment friendly and so intent on working towards energy efficiency. Nice to know how the member countries will take to this proposal once they release the report next week.
