Toyota plans to come out with a car that is configured to run on 100% Ethanol while being able to adapt automatically to run on a Gasohol blend (Gasoline and Alcohol.) The initial market to distribute the car however is in Brazil on 2007. Very logical, given the fact that most cars in Brazil run on Ethanol already.
Toyota’s AE plans have them focusing on four areas of development:
- Alternative Liquid Fuel Cars - Ethanol
- Clean Diesel Cars - running on Liquefied Natural Gas and diesel Hybrids
- Hybrids - Prius is what comes to mind. Which sold 175,157 cars in 2005 alone. 50k more than in 2004. Prius accounts for 76% of all Hybrids sold.
- Electric Cars - Plug-in Hybrids and Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicles
