The Cordillera Administrative Region has allocated 12,000 ha. of government land in their domain for the planting of Jatropha Curcas as feedstock for Biodiesel production. This is just the tip of the iceberg as they plan to add an additional 32,000 ha for expansion.

This announcement is hot on the heels of the passing of the Biofuels bill in the Philippine Senate which calls for a mandatory 1% Biodiesel blend in the existing diesel fuel as well as %5 of Ethanol in Gasoline. All feedstock will have to be acquired locally as stated in the Senate version of the Biofuels bill.
