One of the downsides of implementing solar power systems, is the amount of real estate that will have to be acquired in order to host your array of collectors. The solution by Energy Innovations for Google is to instal the arrays at the parking lots. The great thing about this also, is that there is now a little bit of shade for the employee’s cars. In my previous work, I used to remember jockeying for parking space slots that had tree shade.
Google’s solar power array is targetted to generate about 1.6 Mw of power for the company, which will use about 9000 solar panels.
