This bodes well for the Philippines in breaking it’s addiction to foreign oil by relying on her natural resources to power her economy by means of the Natural Gas Vehicles for Public Transport Pilot Project (NGVPTPP)

Shell currently has a contract with the Philippine Government to extract natural gas from it’s Malampaya offshore reserve in Palawan.

There are currently 185 buses accredited by the Department of Energy to run on Natural Gas with a final target of 3000 buses. I hope to see more of these stations open nationwide. One of the downside of living in the southern part of the Philippines is the high price of gasoline because of our proximity from Manila, which is the drop off point for all oil companies.
