sinag.pngEngineering Students and Faculty of De La Salle University-Manila have built the first Philippine Solar Car to compete in the World Solar Challenge (in Australia from Oct. 22 - 28 this year.) The event that they will be participating on will be the 20th anniversary of the World Solar Challenge.

The Sugar Alliance of the Philippines printed in the Philippine Daily Inquirer on January 22nd a resolution giving thanks to Congressman Juan Miguel Zubiri of Bukidnon for the passage of the Philippine Biofuels Act of 2006. Sugar Producers are one of the sectors expected to benefit most from the Bill economically because of the huge demand for Ethanol Feedstock.

The Philippine Biofuels Act of 2006 calls for a mandatory 5% blending of Ethanol into Gasoline while 1% Biodiesel in Petro diesel for the first 4 years upon signing of the Bill into Law.

Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth got nominated yesterday in the Category: “Best Documentary Feature” for 2007. The film is an eye opener on the damaging effects of global warming.

Nominated along side it were:

  1. Deliver Us From Evil - a documentary on Child Molestation Scandal at the Catholic Church.
  2. Iraq in Fragments - a documentary on the 3 major factions in Iraq right now.
  3. Jesus Camp - a documentary on a Camp for Children that reinforces their belief in Jesus Christ.
  4. My Country, My Country - A Sunni doctors fight to run for public office against Sunni boycott of the Iraq Election.

Oscars night will be on Feb 25, 2007 5pt/8et.

300px-state_of_the_union.jpgWas watching CNN’s coverage of US President George W. Bush’s State of the Union Address. One topic addressed was how he intends to address the issue of global climate change and oil dependence. The main target is to reduce imported gasoline usage by 20% by the next 10 years. This will hopefully reduce by 75% the total oil imports in the United States.
