The Oxford Farming Conference (Jan 3, 2007.) will be the venue for a project to benefit farmers on the threats and opportunities of climate change. It became evident that 7% of greenhouse gases are caused by the farming industry so the organizers hope to address the issue by addressing and educating the farmers.
The project is organized by Forum for the Future (an environment charity), the National Farmers’ Union (NFU), the Applied Research Forum (ARF) and the Country Land and Business Association (CLA). The project is funded by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).
With renewed interest in growing crops for bio-fuels as well as the impact of farming on global warming, its nice to know that the UK is very proactive in addressing all stakeholders pertaining to climate change.
