Looks like much of what Pres. Bush promised in his State of the Nation Address to fund renewable energy projects to fight America’s addiction to Foreign oil is nowhere to be found. The cause being: Congress passed a stop-gap resolution to keep the budget at 2006 levels.
The end result being: No funding for New Renewable Energy Projects to be given out by the Department of Energy.
Maybe by 2008, with an all Democrat Congress, we will expect to see a funding increase for the development of renewable energy technology. I hope it won’t be too late for the environment. Still lack of funding doesn’t mean that we can’t do our own part to reduce our carbon emissions. As some experts have pointed out that instead of fighting for funding we should move to change government policy that will have short term benefit. Such as in the areas of emission reduction and cutting petroleum use.
