Organizers of the 2012 London Olympics are promising it to be the greenest ever with the use of alternative energy and low carbon emitting processes.
They are hoping to lower emissions by 50% by using renewable energy. They are also planning to recycle 90% of materials demolished for site construction while 50% of construction materials will be transported by rail and water. In line with this, they are also going to promote the use of low-carbon transportation during the games (walking, cycling and public transport)
