logo1.gifYvo de Boer, Executive Secretary of the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change, said that there is a need for Leadership in the face of the global recognition of climate change since what is in place is a feeling of helplessness.

He cited recently inducted U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon as the person that could provide that leadership and direction. One of the tasks he suggested was to get World Leaders to meet and discuss again emissions reduction in a post Kyoto Protocol Conference.

dsc00198.jpgI just love bank envelopes. For the very reason that I get to reuse them. The trick in reusing envelopes is making sure that you open it gently so as not to rip off the flap.

It might seem shallow my joy in reusing mail envelopes but I like to think that little actions like these in their own little way help save our environment and reduce the stress on our natural resources. Each little tree that I can save helps reduce the carbon in our environment.

70px-suzuki_logo.pngIn a joint venture with General Motors, Suzuki President Hiroshi Tsuda announced plans for the company to develop hybrid cars for the Japanese, US and European Markets.

Great news from a very good company that specializes in small and fuel efficient cars. I should know, we used to own a Suzuki Beaver and I have to say that it was a very good jeep. It had 4×4 and a 1.3 L gasoline engine. That jeep got involved in a head-on collision when it rammed into a passenger jeepney. Even for it’s diminutive size, it saved the life of its two passengers.

This article is part two in a series that explains into deeper detail China’s plans to leverage their Coal supplies to fuel their energy needs, fight pollution (via gasification) and ween themselves off of foreign oil by converting coal to fuel via liquefaction.

Problems they face during the conversion of existing coal power plants to cleaner burning gasification plants is the steep price in upgrading existing coal fired power plants.
