hondara107_hi.jpgNick Fry, CEO of Honda F1, announced that this years car (RA107) is going to run without any sponsorship ads plastered on it (click on image for larger version). In place of the sponsorship stickers is a full picture of the earth landscape. This is in the hope of drumming up support for environmental awareness. This is the first time since 1968 that an F1 team has fielded a car without any sponsorship support.

win_documentaryfeature.jpgGlobal Warming Documentary “An Inconvenient Truth” was able to take home two awards from the 79th Annual Academy Award. Best Documentary and Best Song where the categories that they won in.

Singer and Song Writer Melissa Etheridge accepted the award for her song “I Need to Wake Up.” No less than former Vice President Al Gore, Davis Guggenheim and members of the documentary team went up on stage to accept the award for best documentary.

Updated: When Al Gore was asked if he had plans for running for the Presidency, “The moment has passed” could sum up his reply.

175px-wmd_world_mapsvg.pngThe moth balled Bataan Nuclear Power Plant, built during the Marcos administration, could have helped stave off the energy crisis in the early nineties had it been implemented correctly. What the country got was a nuclear meltdown waiting to happen had it been allowed to run. The project was riddled with so much anomalies due to massive graft and corruption that it was once decided to convert it to another type of power plant (oil, coal, etc) instead of trying to fix its problems. Eventually that idea too was scrapped because it would come out more expensive compared to building a new power plant using conventional energy.

sugarcane.jpgEthanol from grass, wood chips and other foliage material is still ways off. Existing now are just small scale model distilleries. The problem right now in implementing it for mass use are three fold. Lack of support from government in terms of soft loans, the current technology costs just too much compared to traditional feedstock conversion (corn and sugarcane), and lastly the current technology consumes a lot of water.

120px-national_collegiate_athletic_association_logo.pngMiddlebury College Ski Program will work together with Native Energy, an energy company with a mission to support renewable energy projects, in order to offset the carbon generated by the NCAA’s regional championship.

Money earned from the event will be used to offset all the emissions generated from the said event. Not covered by them however are the potential carbon to be generated by spectators. The money will be invested in wind and methane power generating projects across the country.
