I posted last week that India was looking to biofuels to power its cellular network base stations in remote areas. This is to extend the coverage of their cellular networks and provide communications in rural areas.
Now in Africa, Motorola is planning on setting up a cellular network that will be powered by solar energy and a wind generator. It is now being trialed at UK and will soon be deployed in Namibia. They are also hoping to deploy this nifty technology in Asia.

The base station will require between 1,200 and 1,500 watts to run, in order to do that it will require a six-kilowatt turbine and four solar panels.
