With the high cost of fuel, UK’s elderly are having a hard time paying for their heating bills with their pension money. Resulting in having to cut back on the use of heaters or scrimping on other expenses in order to pay the heating bill. What’s sad is that, those who really need the heating because of their frail age can’t afford it.
Yep, and along with that we see Oil companies announcing record earnings.
One more reason added to that list of why each country has to develop energy independence. The means to generate one’s own energy means that you are free from the shackles of servitude from price manipulating energy suppliers.
The only other solution that I am seeing is to move to a third world country with a year round tropical climate. Take for example my country, the Philippines, with the low cost of living, you could live like a king on a $1000/month retirement check. I see a lot of foreigners in my country right now who are taking advantage of the special visa that allows foreigners to retire in the Philippines. Not to mention that there are a lot of precedents already that you can learn from.
Of course on even if you can live like a king on $1000/month, I am still recommending that you live a low carbon life style *snicker*
