San Carlos Bioenergy Inc, awarded the contract to build their 120,000 liters/day Ethanol Distillery and an 8MW Power plant to Poyry PLC of Finland. Their winning bid came at a cost of €10 Million.

Funding for the San Carlos Bioenergy Distillery came from a consortium of Banks led by the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP), Land Bank of the Philippines, Banco de Oro Universal, China Bank, and Equitable PCI.

The assignment consists of project management for the entire plant and construction and supply agreements for balance-of-plant facilities. The project involves construction of a complete new plant on a 25- hectare greenfield site in the Province of San Carlos on the north- eastern tip of Negros Island, Visayas, Central Islands of the Philippines. The plant is expected to deliver 120 000 l/d of bioethanol and 4 MW of excess power to the grid in November 2008. [Source]
