b100.pngThe Department of Energy in the Philippines recently released the draft of the standard to be used to test B100 Biodiesel for public use (click on image). The draft was prepared by the Department’s Technical Committee along with some members of the lubricants and petroleum industry. Deadline for comments is on May 17, 2007. Comments can be submitted via fax at (632)840-2155/(632)840-2095 or via email at products@doe.gov.ph

No less than Philippine President, Her Excellency Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will give the opening remarks.

Prof Clifford Kubiak from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) has taken his research, of developing a way to create oxygen for a possible manned mission to Mars, to a different tangent than it was intended for. This was by coming up with the first step to the means of creating fuel from Carbon Dioxide, a very harmful greenhouse gas.

80px-flag_of_the_philippinessvg.pngWith the heat of Summer and May local elections inflicting the Philippines right now, an added burden on the population could be the possibility of fuel prices going up further because of the implementation of the Biofuel Law on May 6, 2007. And that’s not even mentioning that world oil prices are already going up because of the election in Nigeria (Oil speculators are celebrating right now.) Last time I checked, not all the world’s oil is coming from Nigeria.
