070529s.gifHosted by the PNOC-Alternative Energy Corp and endorsed by the Philippine Department of Energy, this 2 day event will be a great venue to learn about the emerging Philippine Biofuel Industry as well for aspiring industry players to network with their counterparts. No less than Philippine President, Her Excellency Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will give the opening remarks.

Prices for registration looks steep though at about $1000 a pop, so I guess this will be a “for-the-big-boys” gathering. The cost covers entry to all sessions, access to the luncheon, coffee/tea and you will be provided CD documentation. If you book your hotel stay at the Shangri-la as well, you get a discounted rate for the room as well. Pre-reservation cut-off was marked as May 7, 2007, guess this means the last day for hotel booking?

For those who are keen on becoming a player in the emerging Philippine Biofuel Industry, try not to miss out on the first day which has government agencies discussing about:THE PHILIPPINE BIOFUELS ACT OF 2006 AND ITS FRAMEWORK (DOE Director), FINANCING OPTIONS & STRATEGIES FOR BIOFUELS PROJECTS(Development Bank of Philippines) and FISCAL INCENTIVES FOR BIOFUELS PROJECTS (Lourdes B. Recente,Director,Department of Finance) in the afternoon.

As with events like these, be sure to not miss out on the cocktails and afternoon tea sessions which are the “real” networking venues. And try not to forget to bring a healthy stack of calling cards and a pen. The great thing about the Shangri-la Hotel, which is the venue of the event, is that aside from being a hotel it is also a Mall, so you have all the amenities that you need in one place

Details about the event can be found here
