The 2007 CSR Expo will be held at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Hotel on July 16~18 in Pasay City. This was announced during a “Walk the Talk” activity with some of the CEO’s of top corporations in the Philippines. They wanted to convey the message to the public that top corporations in the Philippines were trying to do their part to address the climate crisis and other environment issues.

PhilippinesThe Philippine Biofuel Act of 2006 gives a lot of incentives via tax breaks and priority loan packages to biofuel producers and directly related industries. Specific Tax on the biofuel is zero while it is also exempted from the imposition of a 12% Value Added Tax. Waste from distilleries has been classified as “reuse” and will therefore not be required to pay wastewater charges.

These incentives are great to getting the biofuel industry of the Philippines on its feet, what has been said to be overlooked however are incentives to the consumers of these biofuels. These are through the means of cheap cars which are highly compatible to run on an even higher mixture of biofuels.

US based E-Cane Fuel Corp announced that their $150 M Ethanol Distillery located in Pampanga, Luzon will be operational by 2009. This ethanol distillery will pump out 150M Liters/year.

Jean-Pierre Monclin, company CEO, said that the primary market for the plants products will be sold locally to serve the Philippine’s Biofuel requirements (imposed by the 2006 Philippine Biofuel Act) and will eventually be exported to Japan and South Korea.

Feedstock for the distillery will be obtained from neighbors Tarlac, Nueva Ecija and of course Pampanga.
