Here’s an interesting bit of tidbit. San Miguel Corporation’s Board of Directors approved a plan for the company to diversify from its core business which is food and beverage. What is interesting about it is that the core new businesses planned have nothing to do whatsoever with food and beverage.
SMC said its board of directors has approved a plan authorizing the company to invest in new businesses such as power generation or transmission, water and other utilities, mining and infrastructure.[source]
I’d suggest that they try going into Ethanol Production for the biofuels industry. Why is that? Think about it. They have the two primary skills needed in biofuel production.
- Years of agricultural experience for the production of feedstock.
- Years of fermentation experience in their beer distilleries.
By their experience alone they are already years ahead of the competition.
