US based E-Cane Fuel Corp announced that their $150 M Ethanol Distillery located in Pampanga, Luzon will be operational by 2009. This ethanol distillery will pump out 150M Liters/year.
Jean-Pierre Monclin, company CEO, said that the primary market for the plants products will be sold locally to serve the Philippine’s Biofuel requirements (imposed by the 2006 Philippine Biofuel Act) and will eventually be exported to Japan and South Korea.
Feedstock for the distillery will be obtained from neighbors Tarlac, Nueva Ecija and of course Pampanga.
Just when I said that the Brits were out of the starting gate first, with their investment in the Emerging Philippine Biofuel Industry that has a captive market because of the recently signed biofuel law, here come the Yanks hot on their heels. The Philippine Biofuel Law calls for mandatory mixing of ethanol and biodiesel in the fuel supply.
