PhilippinesI didn’t notice that the Philippine Department of Energy already released a copy of the implementing rules and regulations of Republic Act No. 9367, otherwise known as Philippine Biofuel Act of 2006. The document was signed on May 17, 2007, published on May 23, 2007 and has and effectivity date of June 8, 2007. This document further clarifies the law that was signed last January by adding more detail to the guidelines.

250px-toyota_svgsvg.pngToyota Motors Corporation(TMC) recently donated $3M for the reforestation of 3,500 hectares of denuded forest in Cagayan Valley, Philippines. Akira Okabe, TMC senior managing director, handed the check to Philippine President, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, during her visit to Japan. He also said that the favorable business climate in the Philippines has helped to improve the profits of TMC.

Makes me love my Toyota Corolla even more. With or without directly intending it, Toyota has helped to make the world a little bit greener. Especially in my neck of the woods.

oilrig2.pngThe Russian Ambassador Vitaly Vorobiev announced that they are planning to speak to local energy officials with regards to their plan to install an Oil Refinery, Storage Facilities and to make the Philippines their hub for the distribution of Oil to South East Asian Countries. This is so that they can compete competitively with their middle east counterparts who are supplying majority of the Oil in this region. The benefits of course are profits to them and cheaper oil for South East Asia.

180px-cut_sugarcane.jpgLast year we reported that Central Azucarera de San Antonio(CASA) was planning to build a $1.6 B Bagasse fed powerplant with 14MW capacity. It has been announced that this power plant is ready to start selling their excess 5MW to the grid come November when milling season starts.

The plant will operate from November to March during Sugar milling season and can extend operation till April. CASA also announced that they were planning to increase the capacity of the plant by another 12MW.
