Juan Miguel Zubiri, the Distinguished Gentleman from Bukidnon, is one of the administration candidates vying for a slot in the magic 12. In the latest political survey conducted by the Social Weather Station (SWS), he comes in no. 9, tied with former rebel Gregorio “Gringo” Honasan[source]. If this holds true, then he will be assured of a slot in the Philippine Senate.

PhilippinesLast Sunday, May 6, the 2006 Biofuel Act was implemented in the Philippines. The Biofuel Law of the Philippines calls for a 5% mixing of Ethanol in gasoline and 1% mixing of biodiesel in the petrodiesel during the first few years of implementation.

What is interesting about it is that the core new businesses planned have nothing to do whatsoever with food and beverage.

In the past these PEZA zones were often referred to as shelters of escape for the rich land owning class to prevent their lands from being land reformed, otherwise known as the mandatory re-distribution of land if you own more than 5 ha. of it (CARP).
