oilrig2.pngEver wondered how gas prices around the World compare to yours? Check out this post

Interesting to note that Gasoline in the Caracas is only at $0.17/gal, while somebody pointed out that Iceland has $7.91/gal at the pumps. Probably because with a population of only 301,931 they can’t get volume discounts for their oil purchases.

Update: In the Philippines, as of July 8, 2007. Our pump price of unleaded fuel is at P41/li. Current exchange rate is at $1=Php 46.

Sugar Cane EthanolBasic Petroleum is targeting their 200,000 li/day distillery to start producing by 2009, once their Zambo Norte BioEnergy Corp goes on line. Ideally, if permitting weren’t an issue and other regulatory requirements won’t be stalled, you would be able to get a distillery up and running in a years time. With distillery construction running tandem with the feedstock planting and harvest scheduling.

The bigger the capacity, the more you would have to spend in planting as much hectarage/day in order to meet your requirement. On average you can get about 5900 li/ha for sugarcane based ethanol. So in order to meet the 200,000 li/day you would have to plant about 34 ha/day (assume 100% yield) as well as harvest the same amount.

180px-1er_vol_de_l_a380.jpgI have no lament on rich and famous people flying in private jets. Even with the issue of air travel being one of the main CO2 emitting activities ever. Mainly because of the nature of their stature in soceity that affords them a right to their privacy.

I however draw the line at these rich people buying the biggest commercial airliner ever made and turning it into a private jet.

These guys should step out of their airconditioned rooms once in a while and feel the temperature outside, maybe that will knock some sense into them?
