A Biofuels Conference entitled: “Biofuels Development in Southeast and East Asia: Policy Issues and Research Agenda,” will be held at the Renaissance Hotel in Makati on Oct 7-8, 2007. Global and regional insights in biofuels development and country papers on the prospects of national biofuels initiatives will be presented by invited resource speakers.

renewable energy
It was exactly a year ago that I first pushed the publish button and gave life to this site… nice to see that this little pet project of mine is still going… the highlight of this year? aside from my epiphany to learn about going green… What else? but of course, the passage of the Philippine Biofuels Bill early this year…

As its customary for the birthday celebrant to make a wish, my wishes are:

  1. That hopefully I’ll will still have the inspiration and the strength to continue blogging about alternative energy and the environment.
  2. That the Philippine Renewable Energy Finally gets passed in our Legislative Branches.
  3. That hopefully other people get inspired by this blog and start deciding to tread lightly on their emissions and energy use.

Now that I’m inspired today, I feel like going out and planting something :D

Alsons Consolidated Resources Inc, a member of the Alcantara Group of Companies, has announced plans to construct two ethanol distilleries in the island of Mindanao in the Philippines and also possibly a biodiesel refinery.

The first facility will be put up in Cagayan De Oro and will have an initial capacity of 100,000 li/day. The second facility will be located in Sarangani province in Southern Mindanao.

card_rosales.jpgLast week Philippine Archbishop Rosales called on the Filipino people to help put a stop to Global Warming. In a pastoral letter addressed to Catholics in the Philippines, he cited that the current changes to our environment is not a natural occurrence and is caused by the lifestyle of man. With that, it is man himself who must act to solve the problem of his degrading environment.
