Charles MosserPhilanthropist and known Environmentalist, Charles Mosser, passed away last October 17, 2007 at the age of 82. He is personally responsible for the reforestation of huge tracts of land in the Philippines as well as promoting environmental awareness and adoption of organic practices.

Mr. Mosser was CEO and Chairman of Mosser Environment Corporation which was producing Organically grown bananas in the Philippines as well as reforesting areas ravaged by logging in the Visayas and Mindanao. He made his mark in the business world in construction and by establishing a string of popular hotels and apartments in San Francisco.

Aside from his environmental efforts, what was also remarkable about this amiable man was the fact that he gave up his American citizenship and through an act of Congress acquired the citizenship of his adopted land, the Philippines (Sponsored by Presidential Brother-in-Law Iggy Arroyo). He first came to the Philippines as a member of the United States Armed Forces during World War II.

Charles Mosser was the epitome for Luke 12:48: “To whom much has been given, much will be required.” And give back Charles Mosser did, not only to the community and to those in need but also to the future generations that will still have a planet to call home because of the seeds he’s planted.

I was glad that I had the chance to meet this remarkable man face to face and shake his hand a few months before he passed away. Our deepest condolences go out to the Mosser Family for their loss.
