There you have it folks. The Philippines first entry into the World Solar Challenge: Team Sinag, has successfully crossed the finish line at Adelaide Australia on October 27 10:33:00 AM. They finished the race with a day to spare and running in 11th place althroughout. Class leader, Nuon Solar Team, arrived first with a whopping 2 day lead over most of the pack.

Sinag, which means “Ray of Light” in Filipino, was developed by the Students and Faculty of De La Salle University-Manila with the help of some generous sponsors: Ford Group Philippines, Motolite, Philippine Airlines, San Miguel Corporation, Pilipinas Shell, SunPower, U-Freight, Ventus, Aurora, Cabrera Lavadia and Associates, JWT, CreAsia, Merritt Partners, Tuason Racing School, Gochermann Solar Technology, and Stratworks.

    Can you imagine a world where everyone was driving a solar-powered vehicle? I mean it wouldn’t be as fast-paced as the world today, which would probably drive people crazy, but it would certainly be interesting.

    Tax credit for trading in your hummer for a solar-powered car anyone?
