Monsignor Gianfranco Girotti, the head of the Vatican’s Apostolic Penitentiary, announced a new set of acts that are to be considered by Catholics as sinful behaviour. Included in that list was “Pollution”.
These announcements came after a week long conference in the Vatican on the topic of Confession. This was also due to the decision of the Church to modernize the categorization of sins for the current times.
Other acts added to the list of mortal sins are: drugs which weaken the mind and obscure intelligence, genetic manipulations as well as social and economic injustices which widen the gap between the rich and the poor.
This is good news, this act adds a powerful ally to the war to protect our environment. Now if the other religious organizations follow suit then it could definitely be a powerful wave to sweep across the continent.
