The Philippine Weather Department is warning the public to expect 40′C days this coming summer season (March to May).
Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) head, Nathaniel Cruz, said to expect 37′C days in the Nation’s Capital of Metro Manila, while up north the days can go up to 40′C.
He also added that because of the country’s humid climate we should expect the actual temperature to be quite hotter. This is because humid weather doesn’t allow for easy evaporation of sweat from the skin. The evaporation of sweat is what brings a cooling effect to the body.
In Philippine weather history, the hottest temperature ever recorded was 42.2 ‘ C. It happened in Tugeugarao, Cagayan on April 29 and May 11, 1969. Now that is one record I’m very much fearful of breaking.
