The Miss Earth Philippines 2008 Beauty Pageant will be on May 11, 2008 at the Crowne Plaza Galleria Manila in Ortigas. Winner of this contest will represent the Philippines in the Miss Earth Contest. I was surprised that even Filipino communities in France and Germany sent their own representatives to the contest. The contestants were presented to the Media last April 29 at the Intercontinental Hotel.
In total 37 contestants are vying for the title of Miss Earth. Last year’s contest was on the 30th of April and was won by:
#4-Anna Katrina Bautista (Miss Eco Tourism ),#12-Joyce Nocomura (Miss Water). #9- Jean Harn (Miss Earth ) ,#18- Krystle Ann Dizon (Miss Air) and #19-Sarah Katrina Minoza (Miss Fire).
There is an added twist in this year’s contest:
Aside from the traditional titles Miss Philippines-Earth, Air, Water, Fire and Eco-Tourism, this year the pageant will proclaim a Miss PAGCOR Tourism. The winner, sponsored by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp., will travel here and around the world to promote the Philippines as a destination.[source]
