Sad for us, that in the world of futures trading, the Gordon Gekko’s of the world are the one’s driving up the cost of oil ($128/barrel as of the moment). I don’t want to take sides on the current MERALCO overcharging issue that is facing the nation right now. But what I can chime in is that after all the evidences, accusations and name calling has occurred, I would hope to see that one of the outcomes of this legislative investigation is the passage of the Philippine Renewable Energy Bill, or at least a desire to put up more renewable energy power plants instead of fossil fuel based ones.

Looks like the Metro Manila Development Authority’s (MMDA) Traffic Enforcers decided to finally implement strictly the 1991 law of banning smoking in Public Vehicles in Metro Manila. Today, the traffic enforcers positioned themselves in main thoroughfares of the Nation’s capital and flagged down jeepneys and buses who had people smoking in them.

Karla Paula Henry, representing Cebu City, ran away with the coveted title of Miss Philippines Earth 2008. It was a tense moment because she and Miss USA East Coast were the only 2 remaining contestants to be called. One would be crowned Miss Philippines Earth while the other would be crowned Miss PAGCOR Philippines.

When Melanie Felix’s name was called as the winner of Miss PAGCOR Philippines, Karla Paula Henry burst into tears with the knowledge that she had won the Title.
