Sun West Water & Electric Co. (Suweco) announced that they will build an 8MW Mini Hydro Electric Plant in Bugasong Antique which will cost about P1 Billion. The power generated from the hydro electric plant will be used to supply the Antique Electric Cooperative Inc. (Anteco)

Along with this, Department of Energy Secretary, Angelo Reyes, also announced the other Hydro projects the government is working on or looking into under the office of the Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC). These Hydro Electric Projects are:

  1. PNOC with Spanish firm Soluziana S.A. are conducting a feasibility study for a 5.6 MW Hydro project Babuyan, Palawan.
  2. PNOC with Spanish firm Soluziana S.A. are conducting a feasibility study for a 6.8 MW Hydro project Langogan, Palawan.
  3. Ongoing feasibility study on setting up a 23.5 MW HydroElectric plant in Timbalan Ma. Cristina Madalag, Aklan. Study was funded by Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and is currently being reviewed by the PNOC Investments and Appraisals Committee (PNOC-IAC).
  4. Ongoing feasibility study on setting up a 17.8 MW HydroElectric plant in Catuiran Calapan, Oriental Mindoro funded by JETRO
  5. A completed feasibility study on the proposed 17.8-MW Hydro Electric Power plant in Sicopong, Sta. Catalina, Negros Oriental.
  6. 20 MW Pasil hydropower in Kalinga.
  7. 3.7 MW Paracelis hydro power in Mountain Province.
