Al Gore Supports Barack Obama for US President

Nobel Prize Winner, Climate Change Activist and Former Vice President, Al Gore has officially endorsed the candidacy of Senator Barack Obama.

Sighting that it would do America and the drive for Climate Change good if Barack Obama were the next president of the United States.

On his website, he has already placed a donation button for the campaign fund of Barack Obama. In his site, he said that he has never before asked for financial support for a candidate from his site, but because this year’s elections are very critical for the environment and the Country he is making the exception.

In his speech he said that internet donations are one way to keep special interest groups out of politics because the fund comes from individuals who don’t have a specific individual agenda.

In his website he said:

A few hours from now I will step on stage in Detroit, Michigan to announce my support for Senator Barack Obama. From now through Election Day, I intend to do whatever I can to make sure he is elected President of the United States.

Over the next four years, we are going to face many difficult challenges — including bringing our troops home from Iraq, fixing our economy, and solving the climate crisis. Barack Obama is clearly the candidate best able to solve these problems and bring change to America.

I have to hand it to Al Gore for staying out of the Presidential Elections till now. In the wake of the success of his documentary: An Inconvenient Truth, then getting an announcement that he was co winner of the Nobel Prize, he received a lot of prodding to run for the presidency and the temptation must have been very high.

Of course if he did that he would be going against a huge supporter of his, former president Bill Clinton, whose wife was running for president. Well I’d like to believe that that was because he wanted to stay loyal to his friend. Anyway, his role right now is more important as the main figurehead for the drive against climate change and as an elderly statesman in the United States political Arena.

In return of course, I hope Senator Obama will make good on his promises to Al Gore.
