PNOC-AFC buys Jatropha Curcas Processing EquipmentPNOC-Alternative Fuels Corporation (PNOC-AFC) President and CEO, Peter Anthony Abaya, announced the acquisition of equipment to aid in the research, development and adoption of Jatropha Curcas as an alternative fuel source in the Philippines. He also added that due to the high price of oil in the world market there is an urgent need to fast track biofuel projects in the country.

I decided to do a rehash of an old post showing Biofuel Data on Google Trends. Google Trends is a nifty tool to see what the in-demand search queries are as well as the volume of a particular keyword that is being searched. Yep, the ultimate strategic planning tool for the sales, marketing and long range planning folks.

Google Trend Oil PriceWith the recent spike in oil prices it was logical to assume that there would be once again a lot of search queries on alternative energy. I wanted to set a base line so I did this by checking the performance of the keyword “oil price” [click on image] since if you’re planning to study the feasibility of alternative energy products you would most likely check what the price of oil is for comparison.

Makati: E-Jeepney

Makati Mayor for Life, Mayor Jejomar Binay, announced that two locally built electric jeepneys will begin their service of the city this coming July 1. The two vehicles will complement the China built e-jeepneys that have already been servicing the uber-posh Bel-Air Village. The first week of operation for the locally built e-jeepney will be totally free of charge.

If the locally built e-jeepneys prove viable, they will have 50 more units built.

James Hansen, Top Scientist for NASA, said that the situation that the world is facing right now against Global Warming and Climate Change has long passed acceptable levels. There are only a few decades remaining before the more massive effects of global warming start taking shape. These will be in the form of extinction, ecosystem collapse and dramatic rise in world sea levels.

Toyota Prius Hybrid Car
Congressman Ronald Singson (son of Erap whistle blower former Gov. Luis “Chavit” Singson) filed a bill recently that will allow for cheaper tariffs in the importation of parts to be used in Hybrid cars. The bill sponsored by the distinguished gentleman from Ilocos’ 1st District will also give tax incentives to Philippine importers and manufacturers of hybrid vehicles.

Filed as House Bill No. 2084 it has already been accepted by the Congress’ Ways and Means Committee. Our very own Mr. Biofuels, Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri, is the co author of this bill.
