Pope Laments Squandering of World Resources to feed world consumptionist lifestyleIn His speech at World Youth Day 2008 in Australia, the Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, said that he laments the world’s “insatiable consumption” that results in squadering of the worlds resources (mineral and ocean) as well leading to soil erosion and deforestation.

He said to the young Catholics:

“Some of you come from island nations whose very existence is threatened by rising water levels, others from nations suffering the effects of devastating drought. God’s wondrous creation is sometimes experienced as almost hostile to its stewards, even something dangerous. How can what is ‘good’ appear so threatening?”

Early this year the Vatican announced that polluting is a Sin as part of their program to modernize the classification of Mortal Sins in the Catholic Faith.

Best Gas Saving TechniqueThis is the best gas saving technique that I know of. Quite easy actually, even my 1.7 year old son does this when I’m driving and I swear that it saves me tons of gas a week. And it works for all types of vehicles, from SUV’s to sedans, to compacts etc. It’s just a simple process too. First you put your hand on the ignition key… and the next step is… wait for it… turn the key to the left.

Yeah, I don’t believe in after market gas saving add-ons to the car. I think the most they can do is knock off a few pts of your gas consumption but the threat of damaging your engine could be much greater.
