Flying V, a member of the small oil players in the Philippines, announced that they have put up a biodiesel center at Navotas fish port in order to take advantage of the multitude of vehicles who load and unload fish daily at that area.
Port Area manager said that they would be able to service the fuel and lubricant needs of land and fishing vessels.
Great strategy really to veer off from competitive markets. Considering that from my view point I’m seeing the gasoline retail industry to be a very red ocean. Wherein if one gasoline station puts up shop in one area, 2 or more other players will sprout up around him like a mushroom. I guess the only way to really be profitable in that kind of business is to invest greatly in location.
Maybe this strategy was something they came up with from studying to put up a biodiesel facility in Davao City Sasa Port Area?
