A long long time ago a Philippine sea liner capsized from strong winds and waves brought about by one of the 20 plus typhoons that visit the Philippines yearly.

It turns out that that sea liner had some banned agricultural pesticides in them that the Philippines was also supposed to have banned for agricultural use but turns out that some “huge” agri companies had gotten themselves exempted from that ban. Quite funny considering that not a lot of farmers actually use that pesticide because of it’s toxicity.

To cut the story short, after a few odd months and couple of rounds of the blame game the deadly chemical has now been extracted from that ship. But the story doesn’t end there because the ship still holds a considerable amount of bunker oil that has to be extracted so that it doesn’t end the career of some honest fisher and town folk in the area.

A College basketball season lasts 3 months. Corn is planted and harvested in 3 months. Now we know that we can survive 3 months being at pins and needles worrying about an ecological disaster waiting to happen.
