Reviving Nickel Cadmium Batteries

Here’s an interesting post that shows you how you can revive your old nickel-cadmium batteries (Ni-Cad) by adding a high dosage of voltage to them.

The theory is that sulfur crystals that have formed in a battery from prolonged use are what’s causing the batteries to be “dead” because they short its two poles together. Adding a high voltage to the battery causes the sulfur crystals to vaporize effectively unshorting the two terminals.

Was watching the news yesterday evening and saw a feature on the Ecostore in Taguig. The Ecostore carries a wide array of recycled and organic products. The short clip showed some products that would make great gifts for this Christmas season because they help raise awareness on going green and protecting the environment. Not to mention, look fashionably cool while you’re at it.

Moringa Seed for BiofuelSpeaking at the Mindanao Investment Conference, Secura International Corporation president Danilo Manayaga presented the many benefits of the moringa plant that his company has been putting into commercial use.

Moringa, known locally as “malunggay/malungai“, is said to have multiple uses, aside from its more popular use as a milk production stimulant in breast feeding mothers. It is also known as a very hardy plant, similar to the more popular Jatropha Curcas, as it practically grows rapidly and easily in the Philippine landscape.

EDC gets IFC funding for Renewable Energy ProjectsEnergy Development Corp. (the privatized PNOC-EDC) acquired a P4.1-billion loan from the World Bank’s International Finance Corp (IFC). EDC president and chief executive officer Paul Aquino said that the loan would be used to fund their renewable energy projects in the country. More specifically in the geothermal sector.

According to the terms of the deal, it will be a 15-year tenor with three year’s grace period. The loan was signed yesterday by EDC’s Aquino and IFC country head Jesse Ang.
