When asked during the nights Q&A portion: What would you tell US president-elect Barack Obama about the state of the global environment if ever you were to meet him?
She answered:
Environmental knowledge is something that all of us must share, but most importantly we must teach the youth that this is something that we should instill in them so that in the near future they will be the ones to take care of our mother Earth.

Coming after Karla and crowned Miss Earth Air was Miriam Odemba of Tanzania, then Miss Earth Water, Abigail Elizalde of Mexico and Miss Earth Fire, Tatiane Alves of Brazil.
Other finalists who made it to the Top 8 were Mariana RodrÃguez of Colombia, Adriana Reverón of Spain, Nasanin Nuri of Switzerland and Daniela Torrealba of Venezuela.
