Another development in the Philippine Nuclear Power saga is the announcement by DOE Sec, Angelo Reyes, that the Philippines may consider “support whether financial or technical” from countries offering to help in develop the Philippine Nuclear Power Project.
As to who in the Philippines will develop it, it is still being considered whether it will be the government or the private sector.
We are still studying if it will be the government or the private sector that will build the nuclear facility or it could be a joint undertaking
The last time the government was put in charge, it resulted in a mothballed nuclear power plant due to huge safety and substandard issues.
Earlier this year, the government signed on the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to assist them in developing plans for their nuclear program.
Some say that Nuclear energy is clean energy. But it isn’t, because of the spent fuel that has to be disposed of after a few year. And the methods used to dispose of this Nuclear Waste isn’t really encouraging for the environment.
