Reviving Nickel Cadmium Batteries

Here’s an interesting post that shows you how you can revive your old nickel-cadmium batteries (Ni-Cad) by adding a high dosage of voltage to them.

The theory is that sulfur crystals that have formed in a battery from prolonged use are what’s causing the batteries to be “dead” because they short its two poles together. Adding a high voltage to the battery causes the sulfur crystals to vaporize effectively unshorting the two terminals.

So I guess jolting stuff back to life doesn’t only work in Frankenstein movies anymore?

Seriously though, working with high voltage is not a joke and those who are attempting to experiment with this have to take extreme caution and work with the proper safety gear.
