In order to encourage investment in the Philippine’s Biofuel industry, members of the National Biofuels Board (NBB) will sign a joint administrative order to put up a one-stop shop for those who are seeking application for accreditation as biofuel producers from their members respective jurisdictions.
This will result in speedier application and approval processes as the current method requires them to go to each members individual offices. Accreditation will result in good quality of biofuels as well as ensuring that their feedstock does not come from feedstock intended for human consumption.
Signing the administrative order are representatives from the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA), Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA), Department of Energy (DOE), Dept. Agriculture (DA), Dept of Agrarian Reform (DAR), and Dept of Science and Technology (DOST). All of whom comprise the National Biofuels Board task to oversee the implementation of the Philippine Biofuel Law.
As a biofuel producer you will need accreditation from the PCA or SRA if you are going to use coconuts for your biodiesel or sugarcane for your ethanol. The Dept Agrarian Reform department issues permits to companies that source feedstock from lands coverted by agrarian reform law. the DENR mean while gives permits for feedstocks sourced from forests.
As of the moment, there are already 10 accredited biofuel producers in the Philippines. Some of these are Chemrez Technologies Inc. and Senbel Fine Chemicals Co. Inc. who produce biodiesel. While Leyte Agri Corp. and San Carlos Bioenergy, Inc. produce bioethanol.
