Andy Grove, the beloved ex-CEO and Chairman of Intel, who spearheaded the chip maker’s growth to a multi billion dollar company, suggested recently to the management for the company to entertain thoughts of going into the production of advanced car batteries that can be used to power electric vehicles.
Intel hasn’t issued a statement as to whether they will follow Mr. Grove’s advice. According to a company spokesman, Intel already has investments in battery related companies via their investment arm.
I always look forward to news that the big boys want to get into renewable energy projects. I believe that it is when the big movers begin to move on clean energy projects is when we really see some substantial change in the landscape. In Intel’s case, it could mean more advancements in technology which could lead to better efficiencies. And Intel always shoots for the moon whenever they act on something.
