The Don Emilio Abello Awards for Energy Efficiency were recently awarded to SM City North EDSA, SM City Sucat, SM City Sta. Mesa and SM City Manila. While the SM Mall of Asia was the Philippine Entry to the ASEAN Energy Efficiency and Conservation Best Practices for Buildings contest. Their energy saving practices resulted in over P38M worth of savings for the malls.
Also recognized in the award were SM engineers Teodoro S. Bautista, Charles L Singson and Teddy G. Mueca for their overall contribution to improve best practices towards the efficient use of energy.
The Don Emilio Abello Awards for Energy Efficiency is in partnership with the Department of Energy (DOE).
Even before this award, the SM Mall was already “notorious” for its energy saving practices. I remember me and my friends not ever wanting to catch any last full show at an SM Mall because an hour before the movie ended the air conditioning would already be turned off… hehehe
