This will be the our first post for 2009. 2008 went by like a flash, but we’re happy that two monumental things happened that can give this world hope for a cleaner and greener future.
For the Philippines it was the passage of the Renewable Energy Law near the end of 2008 that gives monetary incentives to energy investors to develop and tap renewable energy sources to power the Nation’s grid.
The second is the election to the US White House of a little known Senator from Illinois with the name Barack Obama. Why should this matter?, because he promised energy independence for the United States in the form of adapting Alternative Energy technologies. And with the United States the second largest carbon emitter in the entire world (next to China), that should account for much.
The Oil shock that occurred in the middle of the year that drove the price of oil to unheard of levels ($150/barrel) was dragged back down to 2004 levels because of contracting economies brought about by the world wide credit crunch. We hope that this will not dissuade people from adapting renewable and clean energy technologies, because what we are fighting for is the end to global warming and a promising future for our succeeding generations.
