As a child growing up, one of the shows that I loved to watch was the Starvengers of the Force Five series. The plot of the story revolves around the Starvengers team fighting the evil aliens of the Pandemonium empire who are bent on conquering the world. The protagonists Homer, Paladin and Foul-Tip did this by each flying a plane that combined to form a gigantic robot over a 100 ft tall.

Well your probably wondering what does this cartoon show have to do with alternative energy? The relationship lies in the plot line that in order to fight off the aliens, mankind had to adapt by developing new technologies. And one of these is a new power source based from clean and naturally abundant and available energy from the sun and stars.

Dr. Copernicus explains:

To provide the tremendous amounts of energy that the robot used in its operation we developed a totally new power system called the Omicron Generator. From the sun and from the stars, it collects the faint but powerful omicron rays. These are transferred to the Starvengers’ power plants. The resulting energy is profound. [source]

Faced with the energy crisis we have right now and global warming, Mankind, like in the Starvenger’s series, is called to adapt quickly. And like in the series, admit it or not, what we are facing as a human race is extinction.

Aside from that, it feels good sometimes to look back at your childhood and reminisce about the simple things that made you happy. Of course now I realize how absurd it is to shout out the weapon you are going to use to attack the enemy with. Back then of course it sounded very cool.

Packaged as Starvengers in the United States by Jim Terry Productions, the original Japanese title was Getter Robo G and it was created by Go Nagai.

Check out a sample episode I found in Youtube.
