According to the Philippine Weather Bureau (PAGASA) today was the hottest day so far in 2009 with temperatures peaking at 35.3′C at 2PM. Well the sad news is that the Philippine summer isn’t even half way through yet so we could still expect more of the higher temperatures days in the coming weeks.
PAGASA had already released some safety tips for the public in anticipation of the summer climate. Along with that came the dire prediction that temperatures could reach 40′C.
The safety tips were for the public to always bring an umbrella to block off the sun, wear sunscreen if you can and bring bottles of water to hydrate oneself. The heat is expected to be the worst between 10AM to 3PM of the day.
In Philippine weather history, the hottest temperature ever recorded was 42.2 ‘ C. It happened in Tugeugarao, Cagayan on April 29 and May 11, 1969.
