Ashmore Investment Management Ltd, a UK based fund management group that was party to the acquisition of Petron by San Miguel, has announced that it is interested in investing in Renewable Energy projects in the Philippines.

Seumas J. Dawes, senior fund manager at Ashmore, told this to reporters, he also said that they had already prior experience in Renewable Energy investing in other parts of the world. The specific area that they are looking into right now is geothermal energy.

Ashmore is a publicly listed company at the London Stock Exchange in the business of global asset management. The have current stakes in power generation, telecommunication, retail fuel business and petrochemicals. Their total assets amount to about $36 Billion.
