Flying V, a local gasoline retailer, announced that they are in discussion with Terra Solar Global Inc for a possible solar panel manufacturing project. Terra Solar Global Inc is a subsidiary of China Solar Energy. More specifically it will consist of constructing a plant to build solar panels then to export them.
They said that this is in line with their efforts to intensify their renewable energy initiatives as well as the company’s plans to promote the use of the electric tricycle.
I find it strange that a Chinese manufacturing company would want to set up a plant in the Philippines. Since China is touted for being the world’s manufacturing place. Meaning that if you wanted to build something cheaply, you go to China. Could it mean that the cost of doing business in China is not that profitable anymore? I’ve seen a lot of foreign manufacturing company’s close down in the Philippines because they wanted to shift their plants to China because of the economic benefits.
