Hedcor to build mini hydro power plants in Benguet and DavaoThe Aboitiz Group’s Hydro electric subsidiary, Hedcor Inc, announced plans of investing over $76.64 million in the construction of mini hydro electric power plants in the Philippines. Specifically the provinces of Benguet and Davao.

The plants in Benguet will be Ampohaw, Bineng 1 & 2, Bineng 2B, Bineng 3, FLS, Irisan 3,Lon-oy, Lower Labay and Sal-angan. While the ones in Davao City are Talomo 1, 2, 2A, 2B and Talomo 3. They are expected to add over 38MW of energy to the grid.

Hedcor president Rene Ronquillo added that the service contracts signed with the DOE are for existing projects and they were in process for applying for approval for new projects. The new projects are in the areas of Benguet, Davao, various parts of Mindanao and the Cordillera region.

Hedcor is no stranger to Davao. As it is currently pitched against the Davao City Water District for the development of their hydro electric power plant in the Tamugan river, which the other is opposing. It also has long had a presence in the Benguet region.
