The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) approved the contract of Bioethanol producer San Carlos Bioenergy Inc (SCBI) to supply their excess electricity to VMC Rural Electric Services Cooperative Inc. (VRESCO).
The contract allows SCBI to supply VRESCO their 2.4 ~4.8 MW of excess electricity from their cogeneration plant.
The supply contract has a span of 30 years with a cost of P2.86 per kilowatthour (kwh) but with provisions for adjustments based on inflation.
SCBI’s biomass cogeneration plant is powered by left over bagasse from its bioethanol refining activities. SCBI is the pioneering bioethanol producer in the country and currently supplies Petron its bioethanol.
